Luke Holder 8c89f3f608 Explained syntactic sugar is really just method calls.
Objects in ruby receive a message via the . (dot) notation. The arithmetic operators are just syntactic sugar of the . message notation.

# Hashes are Ruby's primary dictionary with keys/value pairs.
# Hashes are denoted with curly braces:

# Hashes can be quickly looked up by key:

hash['number'] #=> 5
